Tanker Hit by Projectile in Strait of Hormuz, Two Crew Injured

A tanker entering the Strait of Hormuz was struck by an unknown projectile on Monday, injuring two crew members. Britain's United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center confirmed the hit and issued a caution advisory to all tankers in the area.

The name was not released. It was conducting an inbound transit when the strike occurred. Both injuries were minor. The tanker stayed under its own power and was heading to its next port by the time the UKMTO bulletin went out, MarineLink reported.

No party claimed responsibility for the attack. Earlier in September, the IRGC had struck at least three tankers in the Strait between September 16 and 18, and two ships were hit by projectiles near the Strait of Hormuz days earlier.

No environmental damage was reported, according to MarineLink. UKMTO asked mariners to report any suspicious activity to the center and to their flag states.
