Sirius Wins Design Deal for Two 144-Metre Construction Vessels at Chinese Yard

Sirius Design & Integration signed a deal on 26 August 2026 to provide the design for two construction support vessels being built at Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding in China. Two additional hulls are covered by options in the contract. The customer has not been named; Sirius described them as a leading player in the energy sector.

Each ship will be 144.7 metres long with a 27-metre beam. The design carries two large offshore cranes and two launch and recovery systems for remotely operated vehicle operations. Space has been reserved for a carousel, a vertical lay system, and other mission-specific equipment, giving the owner flexibility to configure the deck for different jobs after delivery.

Sirius developed the design alongside the customer, working from its construction support vessel platform. The Norwegian firm's scope covers the conceptual design phase through to a complete basic design package. Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding will handle construction.

At 144.7 metres, these vessels sit toward the larger end of the offshore construction segment. The dual-crane layout and LARS pair allow heavy lift operations and continuous ROV deployment to run side by side without switching between systems. That combination suits subsea installation, cable-lay, and pipeline work in deeper water, where switching setups mid-operation costs time and money.
