Saudi Arabia and 13 other nations established a maritime security coalition on July 31, 2026, after founding talks in Riyadh the previous day produced a joint charter. Fourteen countries signed. The coalition covers the Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandab strait, and the Gulf of Aden.
The founding members are Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Djibouti, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Bangladesh, and Nigeria. The alliance is open to additional members, according to Saudi officials.
