Minoan Pioneer was struck by an unknown projectile near the Strait of Hormuz on August 3. One crewmember is missing.
The ship, Liberian-flagged at 93,283 deadweight tonnes and operated by Modion Maritime Management, was transiting roughly 20 nautical miles northeast of Al Khasab, Oman, when the impact hit. The projectile struck the engine room. Fire broke out in the accommodation spaces and the ship went dark. Crew abandoned the ship.
The third engineer has not been found. According to Seatrade Maritime, two ships reported near-miss incidents in the same waters the previous day. Egypt Prosperity and On Pride each heard explosions nearby; neither was struck.
No actor has claimed responsibility for the attack on Minoan Pioneer.
