Carnival Conquest Rescues Sailor Stranded 10 Days at Sea in the Caribbean

Carnival Conquest interrupted a sea day in the Caribbean on 26 August to rescue the lone occupant of a disabled sailboat. The person had been stranded for 10 days, according to WHIO.

The rescue came after the ship's bridge received a distress relay from rescue authorities. The Conquest changed course, located the small sailboat, and brought the mariner safely aboard. Fast work.

Passengers watched from their balconies as the Conquest pulled alongside the sailboat. In a statement confirmed to Cruise Hive, Carnival said the Conquest diverted to the sailboat's location, brought the sole occupant safely aboard, and that the individual remained in the care of the ship's team.

The rescue took roughly two hours. Carnival Conquest reached St. George's, Grenada, on schedule with no meaningful delay to the itinerary. The rescued mariner remained aboard in the ship's care and was expected to be debarked at the next port.
