A fire broke out on the offshore supply vessel AM Pride on September 12, around 48.5 nautical miles south of Mossel Bay. All 15 crew were rescued safely.
The fire started in the messroom and could not be contained. The crew took to a life raft and were picked up by a PetroSA helicopter. No injuries were reported.
The AM Pride is registered in the Marshall Islands. The emergency tug Mkhuseli was dispatched to the scene to secure and tow the vessel.
MarineRadar data shows a rise in searches for the waters off South Africa's southern coast around the time of the incident.
