Sonyeam Lighthouse stands on a reef approximately 5 kilometers west-southwest of Daecheon harbor. This cylindrical concrete tower, painted red, reaches a height of 17 meters. Its focal plane is 11 meters above sea level. The light emits a single red flash every 4 seconds, with a geographic range of 10.7 nautical miles. Access to the site is possible by boat, though the tower itself is not open to the public. The lighthouse is situated near Boryeong-si in the South Chungcheong region of South Korea.
Why it matters: This lighthouse warns vessels of the reef where it is located and serves as a navigational aid for ships approaching or leaving Daecheon harbor.
