About Solovjeva Lighthouse
The Solovjeva lighthouse is a steel mast structure built in the late 1980s, standing 20 meters tall. Its design includes a white tower with a single red horizontal band, topped by a large structure. The light emits a white flash every 5 seconds from a focal height of 17 meters, with a geographic range of 12.4 nautical miles. This navigational aid was significantly altered between 2003 and 2007. Since 2019, the lighthouse has been inactive, listed as temporarily extinguished.
Why it matters: Its unique placement in the center of the Åland Sea serves as a critical mid-sea marker, helping to prevent collisions and guide vessels navigating between Finland and Sweden.
