Simgok Hang Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Simgok Hang Lighthouse
This red, cylindrical concrete tower stands 12 meters tall at the end of the Simgok breakwater. It guides mariners with a red light flashing once every 4 seconds. The current structure replaced an earlier skeletal tower, which was present in 2015. The lighthouse's focal plane is 15.85 meters above sea level, offering a geographic range of 12.1 nautical miles. The site is accessible to visitors, though the tower itself is closed to the public.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is essential for guiding local fishing vessels safely into Simgok harbor, marking the breakwater's end.
