About Seogwipo South Breakwater Lighthouse
This cylindrical concrete tower, standing 14 meters tall, is located at the western end of Seogwipo's south breakwater on Jeju Island, South Korea. Its focal height reaches 17 meters above the water, emitting a green flash every 4 seconds. First lit in 2020, the lighthouse had a prior period of inactivity between 2014 and its reactivation. The structure includes a lantern and gallery, and it guides vessels towards the nearby Seogwipo port. While the breakwater site is accessible to the public, the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse marks the entrance to Seogwipo harbor, a key port on Jeju Island, aiding maritime traffic in this active coastal area.
