About Sæbraut Lighthouse
Also known as: Sæbraut (Höfði)
A square, 4-meter tall iron tower painted yellow, the Sæbraut lighthouse was first lit in 2019. It stands on the Sæbraut coastal boulevard in Reykjavik, opposite the historic Höfði House. This modern structure replaced the Sjomannaskolinn light, guiding vessels into the harbor. It displays an isophase white, red, or green light with a 4-second cycle. The lighthouse, standing 12 meters above sea level, has a geographic range of 11 nautical miles. While the site is open to the public, the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse serves as the entrance leading light for the harbor, essential for guiding vessels through its approach channels.
