About Samgilpo Hang Breakwater Lighthouse
This red, cylindrical concrete tower stands 13 meters tall and was completed in 2009. Its light emits a red flash every six seconds from a focal height of 14 meters. The structure features a decorative lantern and gallery. Located at the end of the Samgilpo breakwater, it is situated near the eastern part of the Daesan waterfront. The site is accessible to the public, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse marks the end of the breakwater, guiding vessels into and out of Samgilpo harbor and preventing groundings in an area with considerable shipping activity.
