About Ryssökobb Lighthouse
Also known as: Ryssökobb (Range Front)
Located on an islet 800 meters south of the Gustavsvärn lighthouse, the Ryssökobb lighthouse is a red, cylindrical steel tower standing 17 meters tall. Its focal height reaches 21 meters, from which it emits a quick-flashing white light. The structure features a square, skeletal tower carrying a large rectangular daymark, distinguished by its red color and a yellow vertical stripe. The lighthouse provides a geographic range of 13.4 nautical miles. While the islet is open to visitors, the tower itself remains closed.
Why it matters: The Ryssökobb lighthouse is essential for guiding vessels around the islet off Ryssö's eastern side, preventing groundings in the Finnish archipelago. Its unique visual identifier and light ensure safe passage for smaller craft and fishing boats navigating these waters.
