Rio Calçoene Lighthouse

Fl White 3s🇧🇷Calçoene, BROperational

Also known as: Rio Calçoene (?)

This white, square skeletal tower, constructed of steel and standing 20 meters tall, was built in 2006. It is situated on the water's edge at the south side of the Rio Calçoene entrance in Brazil's Amapá region. The light, visible from 14.1 nautical miles, emits a white flash every three seconds from a focal height of 24 meters. This remote location is accessible only by boat, and while the site is open, the tower itself remains closed to the public. Approximately 400 meters to the northwest, the remains of a previous skeletal tower have been discovered.

Why it matters: The Rio Calçoene lighthouse warns mariners of the river entrance, aiding safe passage into the waterway and preventing navigational errors.
