Constructed in 1943, the Apeú Lighthouse is situated on a small island approximately 120 kilometers east of Salinópolis, Brazil, in the state of Pará. The tower, a square skeletal design with a gallery, measures 38 meters tall and is distinguished by red and white horizontal bands. Its light is white, flashing once every 15 seconds (Fl W 15s). This structure succeeded an earlier light relocated to Salinópolis in 1937. The light was removed from the Admiralty list in July 2018 but remains active.
Why it matters: This structure serves as a navigation aid marking the coast east of Salinópolis. Its presence on Brazil's national list confirms its particular function for local maritime traffic.
