Albardão Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Albardão Lighthouse
The Albardão Lighthouse, an active aid to navigation, was first lit in 1948. This round, cylindrical concrete tower stands 44 meters tall, with its lantern and gallery rising from a 1-story workroom. Its exterior features a distinctive black and white diamond pattern. The current structure replaced an earlier cast iron tower. It is located on a beach about 90 kilometers northeast of Barra do Chuí in the Rio Grande do Sul region.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is one of the southernmost lights in Brazil and serves coastal navigation on a remote stretch of the South Atlantic Ocean.
