A square skeletal tower constructed of metal stands 30 meters tall, painted white and topped with a lantern and gallery. The light source is positioned 32 meters above sea level. Established in 1890, the original lighthouse had a focal plane of 18 meters, with the current structure featuring a raised focal plane. The light emits a single white flash every 6 seconds, visible for a geographic range of 15.7 nautical miles. The lighthouse is situated on the central south coast of Pulau Tunda, an island approximately 25 kilometers east of the Sunda Strait entrance.
Why it matters: This light guides vessels navigating the shipping lanes that connect the Sunda Strait and Jakarta.
