Piedra de Burela Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Piedra de Burela Lighthouse
This white cylindrical fiberglass tower stands 8 meters high on a rocky islet just 0.1 km from the port of Burela, Spain. It features a yellow horizontal band below the gallery, and its modern lantern structure sits atop the 8-meter tower. The light emits a single white flash every 10 seconds, visible for 11 nautical miles. The lighthouse was damaged by a storm in March 2014 but has since been restored. Access to the islet is restricted to boats.
Why it matters: This light is important for the fishing fleet of Burela, guiding them safely through the coastal waters and marking the hazardous rocky islet at the entrance to their port.
