About Bajo Con de Estro Lighthouse
Also known as: Bajo Con de Estro (Piedras Sálvores)
This cylindrical stone tower, standing 10 meters high in Spain's Ría de Arousa, is situated about 1.6 kilometers from the Meloxo harbor entrance. It is painted white with a green band around its upper section. The structure, built of stone, has been non-operational since the 1990s, functioning now as a daybeacon. While it no longer produces a light, the tower remains as a visual reference for daytime maritime traffic. The location can be reached by boat, but the tower itself is not open to visitors.
Why it matters: Despite its inactivity, the lighthouse functions as a daybeacon, offering a visual reference for ships navigating the shoals and channels near the Meloxo harbor entrance, aiding safe transit within the Ría de Arousa.
