Burela is a significant fishing port on Spain's Cantabrian coast. It handles substantial catches of albacore and hake, supporting a local canning industry. The port accommodates bulk carriers, general cargo vessels, and tankers, with depths allowing for approximately 7 meters draft.

Background
Burela is a municipality in the Galician province of Lugo. It is in the comarca of A Mariña Central. Burela is a coastal town on the shores of the Cantabrian Sea. An extension area of 8.2 square kilometers was created in 1994, following the segregation of the municipality of Cervo. Its fishing port is one of the most important of the Galician coast and has a large fleet of ships. Its economy is based mainly on fishing, in particular, albacore and hake are delivered daily to the rest of Spain. As a result, a canning industry has developed.
