About Nangdo Hang Lighthouse
This octagonal concrete tower stands 13 meters tall and was constructed in 2003. Located at the southwestern corner of Nangdo island, it marks the entrance to Nangdo harbor. The lighthouse is situated at the extremity of the south breakwater, guiding vessels into the protected waters. Its focal plane is 18 meters above sea level, and it emits a red light with a single flash every 4 seconds. The geographic range of the light is 12.7 nautical miles. While visitors can access the site, the tower itself is not open to the public.
Why it matters: This lighthouse guides local fishing fleets and other small craft entering and departing Nangdo harbor, offering a distinct navigational reference at the end of the main breakwater.
