The Nangdo Lighthouse stands on a small islet off the east end of Saengildo in South Korea's South Jeolla region. This cylindrical, white concrete tower, standing 9 meters tall, supports a light with a focal height of 43 meters. It emits a single white flash every 6 seconds, visible for nearly 18 nautical miles. The lighthouse is situated on an elevated natural platform, accessible only by boat. While visitors can access the site, the tower itself is closed to the public.
Why it matters: This light marks the hazard of Nangdo islet for vessels navigating the waters east of Saengildo, helping to define safe routes in the area.
