Île Sainte-Thérèse Upper Range Front Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Île Sainte-Thérèse Upper Range Front Lighthouse
A round, cylindrical concrete tower, 12 meters high, was first lit in 1879. The station was established that year, with the range towers moved in 1884. A second lighthouse was built in 1924. The current structure has a lantern and a double gallery. It emits a green flashing light. The tower is white and stands 11 meters above the water.
Why it matters: This lighthouse guides vessels downstream from Montreal, providing precise alignment for the St. Lawrence River channel. Its continuous green light is part of a range system critical for safe passage.
