Location & Light Range
About Iho Hang West Breakwater Lighthouse
This concrete lighthouse, standing 12 meters tall, was constructed in 2009 on the short west breakwater at Iho Hang, approximately 8 kilometers west of Jeju city. Its focal plane is 19 meters above sea level. The tower is painted red and emits a red flash every 7 seconds. Uniquely designed to resemble a horse with the lantern positioned on its head, the structure serves as a recognizable landmark. The site is accessible to the public, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: The red light specifically marks the western entrance to the harbor, guiding vessels safely into Iho Hang, a significant port on Jeju Island. Its distinctive horse-shaped design also makes it a unique architectural feature.
