Icheon Hang Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Icheon Hang Lighthouse
The Icheon Hang lighthouse was a cylindrical concrete tower, standing 10 meters tall and painted red. It marked the termination of the central breakwater in Icheon, a coastal area within Gijang-gun near Busan. This structure provided a red light to guide maritime traffic. In 2021, the breakwater was extended, leading to the lighthouse's removal. A new post light now marks the extended breakwater's end. The site of the former lighthouse is accessible to the public, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse served local fishing boats and other vessels entering the port of Icheon by clearly marking the end of the central breakwater.
