About Húsavík Lighthouse
The Húsavík Lighthouse, built in 1956, is a cylindrical concrete tower standing 12 meters tall on a promontory west of the town. Originally yellow, its exterior has weathered to a brown hue. It is situated on the north side of the entrance to Húsavík harbor, a fishing port on Skjálfandi Bay in northeastern Iceland. The structure features a lantern and gallery inset at the top. Its light, visible for nearly 19 nautical miles, emits a sequence of white, red, and green flashes every 2.5 seconds, depending on the direction of approach. The site is open to visitors, though the tower is closed.
