About Haukneset Lighthouse
This skeletal concrete tower, standing 6 meters tall, is located on the southern edge of Ranafjord near Åga, approximately 8 kilometers southwest of Mo i Rana. It features a lantern and gallery atop four black piles, with the lantern itself being white and topped by a red roof. The focal height of the light is 27 meters, and it previously emitted a white light with a characteristic of Fl.W.R.G. The geographic range was limited to 4 nautical miles. This structure, identified by NGA list number 9728 and Admiralty number L2226, has been inactive since 2024. The site is open to the public, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse was essential for safe navigation within Ranafjord, especially for vessels approaching the port of Mo i Rana. Its elevated design on piles provided a clear visual marker in the fjord system.
