About Grenjanes Lighthouse
This cylindrical concrete tower, standing 19 meters tall, was built in 1945 and first lit at the end of World War II. Its white structure is distinguished by a red lantern and appears to have black vertical stripes from a distance. The focal height of the light is 25 meters, casting a white flash every 20 seconds. Situated on a cape at the east entrance to Lónafjörður fjord, it lies about 5 km north of Þórshöfn. The site is open to the public, though the tower itself remains closed.
