About Castle Point Lighthouse
The Castle Point Lighthouse, built in 1913, is a white metal tower standing 23 meters tall. Its light reaches a focal height of 52 meters and has a geographic range of 19 nautical miles. The light emits three white flashes every 30 seconds. The structure is visible between 209 and 029 degrees, with a reserve light also in place. It is located on the East Coast of New Zealand's North Island.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is the North Island's tallest and one of only two in New Zealand still lit by its original rotating Fresnel lens.
