About Akaroa Head Lighthouse
Akaroa Head Light was established in 1880 and began operation in 1980. The current structure is a round white fiberglass tower standing 8.5 meters tall, with a focal height of 68 meters. It emits a white flash every 10 seconds. This light is situated on the eastern side of the entrance to Akaroa Harbour on New Zealand's South Island.
