About Canal de Chavarria Lighthouse
Also known as: Canal de Chavarria (Barra Morón)
A white, octagonal concrete tower with blue trim stands 37 meters tall on the south side of the dredged lagoon entrance at Barra Morón, Mexico. This structure, built in 2012, features a 3-story base, a central tower, and an octagonal harbor control room topped by a light tower with a lantern and gallery. Its light emits a single white flash every 5 seconds, visible for 10.4 nautical miles. The tower's focal height is 10 meters above the water. While the site is accessible by boat, the tower itself is closed to the public.
Why it matters: The lighthouse's updated Admiralty chart location corrects previous inaccuracies and ensures safe passage for vessels navigating the inlet at Barra Morón. Its integrated harbor control room indicates a role in managing local port traffic.
