Cabo Orange Lighthouse

Cabo Orange Lighthouse is a cylindrical, steel skeletal tower painted white, standing 48 meters tall. It was built and first lit in 1997 to mark Brazil's northernmost point, situated across the Rio Oiapoque from French Guiana. The lighthouse emits a single white flash every 15 seconds, visible for nearly 19 nautical miles. Its remote location on Brazil's northern border is characterized by dense jungle. In July 2012, marines cleared vegetation from the helipad to facilitate restoration efforts. The site is open to the public, but the tower itself is closed.
