About Byeongho Lighthouse
Also known as: Byeongho (Pyongho)
This octagonal concrete tower, 11 meters in height, rests on an octagonal pyramidal pier. The structure displays black on its upper section and yellow on its lower half. It emits a red light with a 6-second interval (Fl R 6s). Situated on a shoal marking the southern edge of the Gunsan harbor channel, this lighthouse functions as a navigation marker for ships approaching Gunsan-si. It took the place of a former round tower and is reachable solely by watercraft.
Why it matters: The lighthouse indicates a shoal on the southern side of the Gunsan harbor channel, serving as a reference point for ships navigating into and out of the nearby port.
