Anteros Lighthouse

Fl (3) White 15s🇬🇷Municipal Unit of Molos, GROperational

Also known as: Anteros (Cape Chiliomili, Ákra Khiliomíli)

The Anteros lighthouse was built in 1890 and is located on a cape at the southern entry to the Maliakos Kolpós. The round cylindrical cast iron tower measures 8 meters in height, with a focal height of 10 meters. It is painted white and topped with a dark green or black lantern dome. The light displays a white flash every 15 seconds (Fl W 15s). This structure represents a prefabricated French tourelle design. The lighthouse received a fresh coat of paint in 2016. The location can be visited, but access to the tower is restricted.

Why it matters: The lighthouse serves as a navigation aid for craft entering and leaving the Maliakos Kolpós, and it is a representative example of prefabricated French tourelle building.
