Built in 1884, the lighthouse is situated on the northwestern extremity of Skópelos, an island in the Voriai (Northern) Sporades group near the Thessaly shore. The construction is a 14-meter-tall square stone tower, which includes a lantern and gallery, built upon a 1-story stone dwelling. Its light source is positioned 70 meters above sea level and emits a white flash at 30-second intervals. This marker is positioned about 4 kilometers northwest of Glossa, delineating a deep-water route important for area traffic.
Why it matters: This lighthouse marks a deep-water channel between Skíathos and Skópelos, serving vessels traveling along the coast.
