Dubai, August 19. The UAE announced it was cutting all trade, commercial exchanges and financial transactions with Iran, starting immediately, with no end date given.
Two Iranian ballistic missiles were fired at the Emirates that day. Both fell into the sea. No casualties and no damage were reported.
The UAE government said the halt covers "all trade, commercial exchanges, and financial transactions with Iran until further notice."
The suspension cuts one of Iran's most important remaining economic corridors. The UAE has long been a key re-export hub for Iranian goods and a financial conduit for the country, helping it absorb the effects of Western sanctions.
