Turkey Warns Russia, Ukraine Over Black Sea Ship Attacks
AI illustrationTurkey's Defence Minister Güler called on Russia and Ukraine on October 29 to stop drone attacks on commercial ships in the Black Sea. The statement came after a Turkish-owned ship was struck near Novorossiysk. Güler spoke in Sofia. He had just finished a trilateral meeting with defence ministers from Bulgaria and Romania.
Turkey said it reserves every legal right over attacks on Turkish-flagged and Turkish-owned ships.
October has been a punishing month for Black Sea cargo traffic. Seven sailors went missing this month when drones hit cargo ships off Romania. The cargo ship Khoryv sank off Romania on October 23 after a drone attack. A drone-damaged Chelsea-3 reached the port of Burgas under its own power after being struck.
