Tanggu Port is a major Chinese port located at the mouth of the Hai River, serving as Tianjin's maritime gateway to the Bohai Sea. Established in 1927, it handles a variety of cargo and is equipped with pilotage and tug services.
Background
Tanggu District was a district in the Tianjin municipality, now part of the Binhai New Area. It is on the Hai River where it enters the Bohai Sea, and is a port for Tianjin, which is about 48 km (30 mi) upriver.
