Common questions

Can I use the same credits for port activity?

Yes. Satellite positions and port activity share the same credit balance and packs. One port activity call costs one credit and includes vessels in port, arrivals and departures. Switching between those lists costs nothing extra; refreshing the board costs another credit.

Do credits expire?

No. Credits never expire. Buy them when you need them, use them whenever you want.

Can I check the same vessel more than once?

Yes, each credit gives you one satellite position refresh for that vessel. You can spend multiple credits on the same ship over time to track its journey.

What if the vessel already has a recent position?

Every vessel shows when its position was last updated. If the vessel is near shore and the free AIS position is already fresh, you don’t need to spend a credit. Credits are most valuable for vessels at sea, beyond shore antenna range.

How recent is the satellite position?

Typically 1 minute to 4 hours old. Satellites pass over every part of the ocean multiple times a day. You get the most recent pass available.
