About Yamasokono Hana Lighthouse
The Yamasokono Hana lighthouse, built in 1918, was located on the north edge of the Kanmon Strait in Shimonoseki. The structure initially featured a 5-meter round stone tower, which was later extended by a square skeletal tower, reaching a total height of 14 meters. This lighthouse served the busy waterway connecting the Sea of Japan and the Seto Inland Sea for over 80 years. It was operational until its demolition in 2003, replaced by a green buoy. The lighthouse's Admiralty number was F5342.
