About Woody Point Lighthouse
Woody Point Lighthouse, built in 1919, stands as a white conical tower with a red top. The structure measures 6 meters tall, with its light positioned 14 meters above sea level. Originally powered by acetylene gas, the light later used kerosene following a community fire in 1923. A new tower was constructed in 1959, at which time the light was converted to battery power. The light emits a white flash every 6 seconds and has a geographic range of 4 nautical miles.
Why it matters: Designated a municipal heritage site, this lighthouse has been operational since its construction in 1919.
