The lighthouse is situated near Bäckviken on the southeastern tip of Ven island in Skåne County. Its light emits three occultations every 30 seconds, and it can be seen for 16.2 nautical miles. The light is directional, displaying white, red, or green signals depending on the bearing. The station was established in 1941, and the current tower was built in 1967.
