About Vallinsgrundet Lighthouse
A round, white tower with a red lower portion and a white upper section and lantern stands 20 meters tall. The light source is situated 19 meters above the water. It emits a white flash every 12 seconds, visible for approximately 13 nautical miles. The original lighthouse at this location was destroyed by ice in 1979. The current cylindrical tower was built and first lit in 1982. The site is open to visitors, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: Rebuilt after destruction by ice in 1979, this lighthouse provides navigational aid south of Nordmaling.
