The Ujung Karang lighthouse stands on a peninsula sheltering the western side of Sibolga Bay. Constructed as a 40-meter skeletal metal tower painted white, its focal plane is positioned at 41 meters. This navigational aid emits a white light with a characteristic of one flash every 17 seconds. The station also incorporates four single-story coast guard buildings. It is located 5.6 kilometers from the nearest port, Sibolga, on Sumatra.
