Location & Light Range
About Tylögrund Lighthouse
The Tylögrund lighthouse, a concrete structure built in 1968, stands 23 meters tall in the Kattegat sea, approximately one kilometer southwest of Tylön. Its cylindrical tower, painted red with white galleries and lantern, emits a white light with a characteristic of one long flash every 30 seconds. The lighthouse features upper and lower galleries. A helipad was added to the structure in 1982 for maintenance purposes, but it has since been removed. The site is accessible to the public, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse provides a geographic range of 13.6 nautical miles, offering guidance for vessels navigating the Kattegat. It assumed the navigational role of the former Tylön lighthouse.
