Tröskeln Östra Lighthouse

This steel post lighthouse, standing 20 meters tall with a focal height of 13 meters, was built in 2008. Its tower displays horizontal bands of orange and white and features a helipad at its summit. The current structure is a sister design to the Armbågen and Solovjeva lighthouses. It emits a single white flash every 4 seconds, visible for 11.3 nautical miles. The lighthouse is situated on the east side of Tröskeln, a narrow, deepwater passage forming the most difficult part of the entrance to the Gulf of Bothnia. The site is accessible to the public, though the tower itself is closed.

Why it matters: The lighthouse guides vessels through the Södra Kvarken, a narrow deepwater passage that is the most challenging entry point into the Gulf of Bothnia.
