Torinosu Yama Lighthouse

Constructed in 1971, the Torinosu lighthouse was a 9.5-meter white cylindrical concrete tower with an attached square equipment room. It stood on a promontory about 2 kilometers southeast of the Tsubura Saki lighthouse, guiding vessels along the coast of Kagoshima Prefecture. The lighthouse served its navigational purpose for nearly 50 years. Its operational period concluded in September 2020, and the structure was removed by 2022. The site is now an observation deck.
