About Tōkyō Outside Breakwater Lighthouse
This red, cylindrical concrete tower stood 9 meters tall at the end of a detached breakwater in the West Passage of Tokyo Bay. The structure was painted red and featured a green triangle pointing upwards. It was located approximately 3.1 kilometers from the nearest port, Tokyo. The light was operational until November 2010, after which it was removed. The breakwater was also dismantled as part of harbor redevelopment.
Why it matters: The light guided vessels navigating the West Passage of Tokyo Bay, marking the detached breakwater and ensuring safe entry into the busy harbor.
