About Teluk Cilauteureun Lighthouse
Also known as: Teluk Cilauteureun (Pulau Santolo, Tjilaoeteureum)
The Teluk Cilauteureun Lighthouse, built in 2019, stands 25 meters tall. It is an octagonal concrete tower painted white, featuring an open lantern room and a double gallery. This structure emits a single white flash every 6 seconds, visible for 12 nautical miles. The lighthouse replaced an earlier structure on Pulau Santolo, an island that forms a natural breakwater for the harbor at Pantai Santolo. The site is accessible to the public, but visitors cannot enter the tower itself.
Why it matters: This lighthouse marks the harbor entrance at Pantai Santolo, guiding vessels and preventing groundings in this active coastal area. Its light supports local fishing fleets and commercial traffic.
