About Tanjung Slokah Lighthouse
The Tanjung Slokah Lighthouse, a 30-meter square skeletal steel tower, was first lit in 2011. It stands on a 1-story equipment building, with its light positioned 33 meters above sea level. The white tower has a geographic range of 15.9 nautical miles and emits a white flash every 6 seconds. Located near Desa Kalipait in the Banyuwangi region, this structure marks the extreme southeastern tip of Java island. Around 2017, the lighthouse was moved back from the beach due to coastal erosion, a testament to the dynamic environment.
Why it matters: This lighthouse provides a critical navigational reference for vessels navigating the southeastern tip of Java, a previously unmarked and potentially hazardous cape.
